The TX3 Total Training Tower

Jack Eyers is a GB Paracanoe athlete who has never taken no for an answer. During lockdown he searched for an affordable, high end gym rack to continue his training regime at home. When he couldn’t find one Jack designed and sourced his own.

Jack chose to work with UK-based Dymond Engineering, well known for their excellent tubular-metal innovation work, and he remained closely involved throughout the process to ensure that every detail was perfect.

TX3 fits into your home or garage without needing to be bolted to the floor or wall. Jack has created a high-quality home gym tower which is as versatile, robust and stable as commercial gym equipment, but without the cost.

With ample head-clearance for pull-ups, it’s perfect for users of different sizes and abilities and includes an additional 3rd pull up grip position for those with limited shoulder mobility.

The TX3 and Me

Jack Eyers

Hi, I’m Jack Eyers, proud creator of the Total Training Tower. The Total Training Tower or ‘TX3’, is my own design elite standard training rig and one of the biggest positives for me this year.

In March 2020 at the start of the global pandemic and during the UK’s first Covid-19 lockdown, I was daunted by the prospect of our freedom being restricted by the uncertainty of what lay ahead – and importantly as a GB athlete – daunted by gyms being closed.

With my sights set on the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, I knew that any time away from training would have a serious impact on my performance as a sprint canoeist.

I had a limited budget and limited space in my flat, so I started looking for second-hand equipment – it had to be the right price, the right size and importantly the right standard. I soon became frustrated that I couldn’t find what I really needed; an affordable, heavy duty training rack. It left me feeling disheartened and worried that I was going to miss out on key strength training exercises which are a huge part of my training programme.

By the end of March 2020, I had my garage-gym set up with odd bits of second-hand gym equipment but is was hardly the elite home gym I wanted, and it was never really going to cut it. I needed an affordable, versatile, good quality squat rack that was built to an elite standard.

Check out the relevant areas on this site for more specific information on the TX3 features, prices and sizes. If you want to know more about me and my credentials feel free to read on or go to www.jackeyers.com or my Instagram page @jackeyersgb.

The endless search to find exactly what I wanted led to nothing.

After moaning and complaining about not finding the right equipment, I finally accepted that it wasn’t going to drop into my lap, so I got creative and designed it myself. I’d always day-dreamed about building my own perfect elite standard training rig, and as a consequence of the pandemic this was about to become a reality.

I started by listing all the key strength training exercises that I needed it to accommodate, I then thought about how I could achieve all of them within a single heavy duty training rack and came up with a multifunctional rig – or tower as it’s now come to be called.

What started as a few scribbles and sketches developed into the real prototype when I joined forces with Mike and Sue at Dymond Engineering.

From our first meeting Dymond got what I wanted, the TX3 has grown from strength to strength and been tested and refined to get us to where we are today. A great quality squat rack at an affordable price.

The TX3 is probably better than I had ever imagined, this is now my favourite piece of equipment (obviously I’m biased!) but having used high performance gyms as part of my job every day, I personally vouch for this as matching the elite standard of major brands and for a fraction of the price.

For the last 10 years I have worked in the fitness industry as a personal trainer.

Fitness has always been a passion for me, especially after having elective surgery to amputate my leg at the age of 16. This was due to a condition I’ve had since birth that got progressively worse.

Before my amputation I considered myself ‘disabled’ and incredibly restricted by my condition. Throughout my childhood and teenage years I struggled with confidence and feeling different.

My theory is that when you have an amputation (or any life-changing operation) you are reborn. You are forced to start from scratch in terms of learning how to walk and regain a sense of balance, by the way – that makes me nearly 9!

I believe the best way to practice this and develop your motor skills and self-confidence is through challenging your perceived ‘comfort zone’ using exercise and sport.

Since my amputation my so-called ‘disability’ has opened many doors and I proudly take every opportunity that comes my way. The path to recovery has been hard and painful but having learnt to embrace my disability and accept it as part of me. I now live life to the full.

Currently I’m a GB athlete on the Para-Canoe team. In 2018 I won a bronze medal at the Sprint Canoe World Championships in Portugal. I’m hoping to build on this success in the Tokyo Paralympic games. #1man1leg1mission
